Matt is a Professional Photographer based in Liverpool. He is an official Fujifilm Ambassador; a Formatt Hitech featured Artist, SmugMug Ambassador and founder of Fujiholics.
Matt has been passionate about photography from a very early age, he had his first camera placed in to his hands at about eight years old and has never looked back. He is self taught by studying pictures in books and then by trial and error shooting roll after roll of film that he used to get out of date from Camera shops in his area. He used to save up the exposed film until he had enough pocket money for developing. This lead on to saving for his own darkroom equipment. He also saved up for his first SLR a Zenit TTL and a pair of Nikon Fm2’s which he shot with for over twenty years. Matt stuck with Nikon for most of his career until Fujifilm started the X Series with the X100. He then took a leap of faith and sold all his Professional Nikon gear and moved over to the Fujifilm X System. He likes to keep the system and process as simple as possible so as not to over complicate the task. Hence, why he has chosen the Fuji X system for his professional work, which helps him to achieve his style.
Matt is passionate about Candid street photography – he has developed the skill to observe and be virtually invisible; letting the world carry on around him without affecting the scene. He loves to keep his hand in on two of the largest Street Photography groups on facebook, Black and White Street, and Streets in Color where he is one of the small admin team.
He is also likes to pass on his knowledge of Street and Landscape photography by teaching Workshops all over the world, he does this through his own company Matthew Hart Photography and through Fujiholics Workshops. He is constantly on the lookout for professional and amateur photographers who would make great teachers for Fujiholics workshops.
Annual projects have helped Matt to focus on his personal development within the industry – they constantly challenge his own ideas and concepts which motivate him to learn new skills.
Matt came up with the idea of Fujiholics one night in his sleep and then started a social media group as a bit of a joke, this soon turned into social meet ups in Liverpool and Wales then the Cake and Cameras Joke was born. Fujiholics has been his passion for the last few years and he loves the social side of Fujiholics and getting out and about on Photowalks all over the UK with like minded people all sharing a passion for Photography. The down side to the Fujiholics is the amount of cake he has to consume and the never ending Fruit toast ! Some believe this is why he carries out so many Photowalks just to keep the weight down. Fujiholics has now become a successful business striving towards the goals of the company to provide at least four free photowalks a year and reasonably priced training in the industry, as well as bringing all the news about the Fujifilm X series as it happens with his close relationship with Fujifilm UK.
