Born and bred staring back down the lens of his late father’s camera, an early obsession with photography was soon ingrained in his mind. Growing up and learning to shoot with a succession of film cameras handed down by his dad Jim soon developed a keen eye for a good image. Jim’s photography career only really took off with the introduction of digital cameras, having left school and qualifying as a time served Joiner. Building upon his knowledge of film coupled with his passion for photography he set up Bluethumb Photography in 2010. He continues to work full time as a freelancer covering a variety of events from weddings to corporate fund raisers as well as studio work. His main area of interest is live music and festival coverage and his work is regularly featured on a well known web based TV channel situated in Liverpool. He is a huge fan of black and white film photography and this is evident in his work where he uses a variety of digital techniques and processing in order to emulate that look. Jim has been using the Fujifilm X Series cameras for over two years now and is passionate to see the brand continue to develop and move forward. In his words ‘they have brought back the enjoyment of shooting’.
